正值二十周年纪念之际，曾获普利策奖和托尼奖的百老汇摇滚音乐剧《吉屋出租》要来华巡演啦！
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning，musical RENT is coming to China for a national tour!
音乐剧《吉屋出租》最早在1996年在外百老汇首次上演，这部由乔纳森·拉森创作的“神作”，讲述了在艾滋危机盛行期间，一群挣扎中的年轻艺术家在纽约东村“出租屋”中的生活经历。
The musical RENT was first premiered Off-Broadway in 1996. It was written by the late Jonathan Larson and is about a group of young struggling artists living in the East Village neighborhood of Alphabet City during the height of the AIDS crisis.
不同于当时代的其他音乐剧作品，当这部不拘一格、打破常规的音乐剧第一次登上舞台的时候，
人们虽然已经对“同性恋”这一身份的看法已大有突破，但在上世纪九十年代，“同性恋”的形象能成为一部作品的“主流”，仍是件难以想象的事。
By the time the show made its debut, the perceptions of gay identity had largely progressed. But in the early ’90s, it was still hard to imagine a world where queerness would essentially become mainstream.
而《吉屋出租》却一反常态，偏偏开创性地将焦点聚集在了这样一群才华各异也各不相同的人身上：他们中有电影制作人，音乐家，脱衣舞者和“变装皇后”，他们拥有不同的肤色，也拥有不同的性取向和性别表达：其中有异性恋，同性恋，双性恋，也有跨性别者。
And yet, the show focuses on a friend group of filmmakers, musicians and actors of all kinds of sexualities and gender expressions.The actors were black, white and brown; the characters were straight, gay, bisexual and transgender.

Genesis of RENT
音乐剧《吉屋出租》的灵感来源于普契尼的经典歌剧《波西米亚人》，但它的词曲创作者乔纳森·拉森，却为它赋予了浓浓的“摇滚”画风，与时代独有的色彩。
Although the show was famously inspired by Puccini’s opera, La Bohème, it was also a reflection of the life of its creator, Jonathan Larson, who wrote the book, music, and lyrics. His score brilliantly melded Broadway savvy with contemporary rock, and the show captured the zeitgeist of a particular place at a particular moment in time.
在1989年，剧作家比利·阿伦森找到乔纳森·拉森，希望能与拉森合作创作一部现代版的《波西米亚人》。拉森却提出几个新的想法：把故事的发生地点改为拉森自己居住的闹区，并以“租”(RENT)这个字眼命名。剧中，不仅有拉森的想象与创作，更有拉森本人的现实生活经历。
In 1989, Larson was approached by playwright Billy Aaronson and was asked to collaborate on a project that would update the opera La bohème. Larson moved the location of the musical and came up with the title of the show. The show is also loosely based on many real-life Larson experiences.
因此《吉屋出租》的故事才如此真实而鲜活动人——它既有生活窘迫中的心碎与挣扎，也有这群年轻艺术家在“追梦”中的励志与感动。
It told a powerful, moving, heartbreaking and ultimately uplifting story of these young, impoverished artists who were seeking to make their way in the world and longing to connect.
而即使《吉屋出租》在九十年代诞生，在如今二十多年后这个充满了千变万化的时代里，它的活力也从未消失。
Although it was created in the early ’90s, RENT is still resonates after 20 years and a world of change, especially with the current economy.
每一代年轻人都能在这个故事里找到“自己的影子”与来自心底的共鸣，这部音乐剧真实、诚挚的本质，与剧中对梦想与希望的渴望，使它成为了一个“现象级”突破时代的文化象征，也收获了各界与大众的赞赏。
The truth, honesty and the nature of the show and the way it talks about people’s hopes and dreams helped it become a cultural phenomenon and receive heaps of critical praise and mainstream success.
实际上，《吉屋出租》也容纳了很多在当时一些并不“主流”的话题。贫困、毒瘾、同性恋、性传播疾病…但同时，正是在诉说着这些话题的背景下，它也充满感染力与热情，这让每一个在观众席中的人，为之动容。
And it also speaks about subjects that are much less mainstream. We see
homelessness, drug addiction, gay identity, STD, while at the same time the show has the sentimentality and enthusiasm to move everyone in the audience.

The Historic Legacy of RENT
开演之始，《吉屋出租》便一举成名。

It became a runaway success, earning a Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1996. It also won Tony Awards for Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score and Best Musical. And it had spawned runs on Broadway and hit the big screen.
二十年间，这部剧开启了在美国的巡演，并将足迹遍布全球40多个国家，被翻译为25种语言。
The show has toured nationally in the states and has had numerous productions worldwide including Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, United Kingdom, etc. It has also been performed in 25 different languages.
而二十年后的现在，它仍在继续鼓舞着一群群创作家、艺术家，并将它的影响传至每一个年轻观众，与LGBT群体。正如它歌中所唱的一样，《吉屋出租》告诉我们，只有一件事才能真正衡量自己的人生，那便是爱。
Two decades after RENT premiered, it continues to inspire a generation of creative artists and, in turn, reaching young audiences and the LGBT community.All these years later, RENT retains its imparting ideas that resonate with our humanity and reminding us to measure our lives with the only thing that truly matters—love.

Introduction of ACO Musical
聚橙音乐剧专注于投资引进海外音乐剧以及中文版和原创剧目的制作。2015年开始，聚橙联合制作和投资了19部百老汇音乐剧,并获得了托尼奖5项大奖和17项提名。2017年引进了殿堂级音乐剧《魔法坏女巫》的聚橙，并将在2018年引进《猫》、《吉屋出租》、《罗密欧与朱丽叶》等原版经典剧目。
ACO Musical is one of the subsidiary company of Juooo,which is a company focuses on investing the musical production, and importing or exporting great musical compositions.Since its establishment in 2015, ACO has jointly produced or invested several Broadway muscials, and they were nominated the Tony Awards in different categories in 2016 and 2017. In the 71th Tony Awards, the muscials invested and produced by ACO have won 5 awards, including the Best Revival of a Muscial. This year, ACO Musical is producing the national tour of CATS, RENT, Romeo&Juliette after Wicked in 2017.
